2nd Intermission Report: Stars 3 - Flames 5

Jamie Benn continued his dominance from the first period by scoring just 44 seconds into the period this time. Benn took a little pass from Adam Burish and found himself skating down the middle of the Flames zone. He fired a wrister that went right over Kiprusoff's right shoulder and into the net. Benn's second goal of the game put the Stars ahead 2-1.

Calgary would tie the game later on a horrible play from Mike Ribeiro. Ribs won the puck along the boards in the defensive zone and for some insane reason just fired the puck into the slot where Blake Comeau was waiting literally all by himself. He one-timed the puck right by Lehtonen for an easy goal.

The Flames took the lead just seconds later off of a face-off win. Jarome Iginla beat Ribeiro cleanly on the face-off and the puck eventually found its way to Mike Cammalleri. Cammalleri had an open net to shoot at and he didn't miss. Calgary put two goals past Lehtonen in one minute to take the 3-2 lead.

Dallas had a goal called off when Adam Burish made what is possibly the most obvious kicking motion ever. He was lying on the ice and scissor-kicked the puck into the net. Dallas would score a legitimate goal just a minute though as Ribeiro made some amends for his mistakes. He ended up with the puck off of a scrum in front of the net and backhanded by a sprawled Kiprusoff.

Calgary took the lead again right after that Ribeiro goal. Stephane Robidas took a stupid tripping penalty and the Flames capitalized on it with a power play goal from Mark Giordano. Steve Ott then took a tripping penalty just a minute after that and guess what? The Flames scored another power play goal, this time from Alex Tanguay.

The Stars have no one to blame for this deficit but themselves. They took six penalties this period and made bad turnovers to led to each of the Flames' goals. It's just a poor mental game and bad discipline that's killed them.
