The Stars are trying to break a three-team tie for the eighth seed in the Western Conference, but Minnesota is just three points back and looking to bust the party.
The Dallas Stars are trying to carve out a place of their own in the playoffs. Currently they're in a three-team tie with Calgary and Los Angeles for the eighth and final spot in the Western Conference after a 3-1 win over Chicago. The Wild are just outside that race, by three points.
The Stars have won two straight, shutting out Dallas and beating a Blackhawks team considered the hottest club in the NHL at the moment. Center Mike Ribiero has scored in five straight games, with two goals and five assists. The season series is tied between these two clubs, each team winning a home game earlier in the year.
