Rangers Vs. Twins: Ian Kinsler Hits Walk-Off Single In The 13th Inning

The Texas Rangers and Minnesota Twins had to wait a little bit longer than most teams to reach the All-Star break. The two teams played 13 innings on Sunday with Texas prevailing 4-3 on a walk-off single by Ian Kinsler.

The Twins entered the ninth inning up 1-0 and added two more runs on an error and a sacrifice fly with Joe Nathan on the mound.

A 3-run ninth inning lead vanished, though as an RBI groundout by Elvis Andrus and a two-run single by Michael Young tied the game at 3-3.

The score remained that way until there was one out in the 13th inning and Kinsler singled home David Murphy for the win.

The Rangers allowed just one earned run in 13 innings.

After a 52-34 record in the first half of the season, the Rangers will resume play Friday with a series against the Seattle Mariners.

Texas Rangers Vs. Minnesota Twins: Saturday Preview, TV Schedule And More

It's been an ugly week so far for the Texas Rangers. After being swept in a four-game series by the Chicago White Sox, the Rangers dropped the first of a three-game series against the Minnesota Twins on Friday night, extending Texas' losing streak to five games.

On Saturday, the Rangers will look to turn that luck around return to their winning ways. Derek Holland will get the start for Texas, which will be his first since June 5. Holland has spent over a month on the disabled list because of shoulder fatigue. Holland will bring a 5-4 record, along with a 5.10 ERA, .251 BAA and 1.33 WHIP into Saturday's tilt.

Texas' offense will face off against Samuel Deduno, who will be making his 2012 debut for the Twins. Deduno, who recently celebrated his 29th birthday, has been in AAA all year. Through 42 innings in AAA, Deduno owns a 2.14 ERA and has limited opposing hitters to a .185 average. He's struck out 46 and walked 22.

It's unknown whether or not Josh Hamilton will start for the Rangers. Hamilton exited Friday's game because of back spasms.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:15 p.m. CT from Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. Televised coverage can be found nationally on FOX.

Rangers Vs. Twins Final Score: Minnesota Defeats Texas 5-1

The Texas Rangers had a poor performance by starting pitcher Martin Perez who gave up four runs in their 5-1 loss to the Minnesota Twins on Friday night. The Twins were able to get to Perez in the third inning by scoring three runs in the third inning, and then another in the fourth to go up 4-0.

The Rangers offense never got into a groove against Francisco Liriano who gave up just a single run in 6.1 innings of work. There were chances for the Rangers as they had five hits and six walks against, but going 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position is what hurt the Rangers the most.

The Rangers also lost All-Star outfielder Josh Hamilton in the fifth inning after he was experiencing back spasms after making a play on a ball in the outfield. The severity of the injury is unknown at this time.

Josh Hamilton Leaves Game In Fifth Inning With Back Spasms

Texas Rangers All-Star outfielder Josh Hamilton left the game in the bottom of the fifth inning when he clutched his back and experienced lower back spasms. The injury occurred when Hamilton got turned around when trying to catch a fly ball in the top of the fifth inning. After that play Hamilton could be seen grabbing his lower back a few times after making the long throw.

The Rangers took precautionary measures and pulled Hamilton for the remainder of the game. Replacing Hamilton in the lineup was Leonys Martin who pinch-hit with two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning, and he also stayed in the game at centerfield.

Prior to leaving the game with the injury Hamilton was 0-for-2 on the night against the Twins.
