Jason Terry Agrees To 3-Year Deal With Boston Celtics

On Tuesday, there was a brief flurry of reports indicating that Dallas Mavericks guard Jason Terry was close to reaching an agreement with the Boston Celtics. Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports reports that Terry to the Celtics is now a done deal. Terry has agreed to terms with Boston on a three-year contract.

The Celtics will use their $5 million midlevel exception to sign Terry. The total value of the contract will be worth more than $15 million.

Terry spoke with Celtics president Danny Ainge and coach Doc Rivers on the first day of free agency Sunday. Rivers told Yahoo! Sports he hopes Boston can still re-sign Ray Allen, in addition to adding Terry. The Celtics have also already reached agreement with Kevin Garnett on a three-year, $34 million contract.

If the deal is indeed done, Terry will be able to sign his new contract on July 11. The Celtics appear to be hard at work assembling a team for the 2012-13 season that will make them even stronger than the squad that made it to the Eastern Conference Finals this year.
