While it's unclear how much interest the Dallas Mavericks still have in Luis Scola now that they have acquired Elton Brand, it appears they will have a lot more competition if they want to bring in yet another veteran post player to their team:
More amnesty scuttle: I'm told Charlotte, New Orleans and Sacramento all have levels of Scola interest and weighing whether to lodge bids

Making things more complicated is Scola's contract, which still has three years left on it, as opposed to Brand, who is entering the last year of his deal.
While he's still a skilled and tough player capable of making an impact at the power forward position, he's also on the down-swing of his career and replicates (rather than complements) the games of the three veteran big men -- Dirk, Brand and Chris Kaman -- already on the Mavericks roster.
Dallas has about $4 million in cap room in which they can use to bid on Scola, but they are probably better off letting him go somewhere else.
