NBA Trade Rumors: Jose Calderon To Dallas Mavericks?

Stay connected for news and updates

With the Houston Rockets trading Kyle Lowry to the Toronto Raptors this offseason, that leaves six-year veteran Jose Calderon in an awkward position as the teams perennial point guard. ESPN's Marc Stein says the Raptors and Mavericks have discussed trade possibilities that would bring Calderon to Dallas.

However, it's a priority for the Mavs to put themselves in position to bid for amnestied forward Elton Brand, who will be awarded to the highest bidder among teams with cap room when Brand clears waivers at 5 p.m. Friday after his amnesty release this week by the Sixers, according to Stein's report.

Calderon, if he were to be traded to Dallas, would compete for playing time with newly acquired point guard Darren Collison.
