Lamar Odom To Clippers Trade Is Official

The Lamar Odom to Los Angeles Clippers trade has finally become official. The Dallas Mavericks were part of a four-team deal that sent Odom to the Clippers, and the deal also involved the Utah Jazz and Houston Rockets.

Here is how the trade broke down:

In the deal, Dallas will send Odom to the Clippers and the draft rights to Shan Foster to the Utah Jazz.

In exchange, Dallas will receive the draft rights to forward Tadija Dragicevic from Utah and cash considerations from the Houston Rockets.

Los Angeles will trade guard Mo Williams to Utah and the draft rights to the 53rd overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft forward Furkan Aldemir to Houston.

The main sticking point in this trade was for Williams to pick up his 2012-13 option which pays him $8.5 million and agree to join the Jazz. The Mavericks are not getting anything too much in return, but what they really wanted to do was unload all Odom. With this move the Mavericks are not going to have to pay $2.4 million salary cap hit if they were to waive Odom.
