2012 NBA Draft Results: Dallas Mavericks Take Bernard James, Jae Crowder

As a part of their draft day deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Dallas Mavericks took Bernard James and Jae Crowder with the No. 33 and No. 34 overall picks in the 2012 NBA Draft.

James, a 27-year old center from Florida State, didn't play basketball in high school and grew while serving in the US Air Force. An athletic 6'10 230 center, he could be helpful as a small-ball center with the athleticism to block shots (2.3 a game) and finish at the rim (61% shooting).

Crowder, a 6'6 240 combo forward from Marquette, was the Big East Player of the Year, but he's extremely undersized for his position in the NBA.

Neither James nor Crowder were the type of home-run pick Dallas could have made in the second round, but they have the chance to make the roster and contribute immediately.
