Petteri Koponen could finally make his NBA debut, five years after being drafted.

Former first-round pick Petteri Koponen was traded to the Dallas Mavericks last year, and after concluding his season in Italy, he has said that he will contact Dallas to see if there's a spot for him on their roster. Koponen has yet to play in the NBA.

" I am going to talk with the Mavs too. If they have space for me from the coming season, I am going in the NBA. Of course, I don't want to go the NBA sitting on the bench."

Koponen, who was born in Finland, was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round of the 2007 draft. He was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers, and appeared in the Las Vegas Summer League in 2008.

A point guard, Koponen could find a spot of the Dallas roster depending on what direction it intends to go in free agency.
