Don Nelson Named As Member Of Basketball Hall Of Fame 2012 Class

Former Dallas Mavericks head coach Don Nelson receives the nod for the Naismith Hall of Fame.

Former Dallas Mavericks head coach Don Nelson is headed to the Naismith Hall of Fame, as the the NBA announced on Monday. The 71-year-old Nelson apparently was informed a few days ago of the honor.

Nelson coached the Mavericks from 1997-2005, which saw three Western Conference semifinals appearances and one conference finals appearance. The Mavericks went to the finals and fell to the Miami Heat just a year after Nelson resigned as head coach.

For his career, Nelson 1335-1063 over a nearly 35-year period. Take a look at the complete ballot for the 2012 Hall of Fame class.
