6 Total Updates since March 17, 2012

March hadn't been too kind to the Dallas Mavericks. Headed into Dallas' matchup against Washington on March 13, the defending champions were just a lowly 2-5 in the month of March -- and 2-8 in their last 10 games altogether.
That all changed this past week, though, as the Mavericks bested the Wizards on Tuesday, Bobcats on Thursday and the Spurs on Saturday night. All three wins were much needed for the Mavericks, as they try to climb up the Western Conference standings.
Unsurprisingly, Dirk Nowitzki led the Mavericks in scoring in each of their three wins this past week. A master of consistency, Nowitzki scored 27 points in each of the three contests -- totals that were also game highs in each game.
Not all the news this past week was great for Dallas, as Shawn Marion was unable to play in Saturday's win over the Spurs because of soreness in his left knee. Marion was listed as a game time decision, but ultimately, did not play in Dallas' 106-99 win over San Antonio.

The defending NBA champion Dallas Mavericks are still in line to defend their 2011 title. Mark Cuban's team sits in third place in the Southwest Division, four and a half games behind the first-place Spurs -- and percentage points behind the Memphis Grizzles for second place in the division.
Still, Dallas' 26-20 mark is currently good enough to earn the sixth seed in the Western Conference. If the season ended today, the Mavericks would have to face the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the playoffs, who would undoubtedly be looking for revenge for Dallas' thrashing of them last year.
The Mavs play four games this week, so they'll have ample opportunity coming up to improve their record and climb both the division and conference standings. Dallas visits Denver on Monday, before coming home to host the Lakers on Wednesday before headed on the road again Friday and Saturday to take on the Spurs and Rockets.
Dallas' games against Denver and Houston will be quite important, as both teams trail the Mavericks in the conference standings, with the Nuggets trailing by just half a game, and the Rockets only by a game and a half.

The Dallas Mavericks got a much needed win by defeating the Southwest leading San Antonio Spurs 106-99. The Mavericks had a big third quarter to extend their lead 10 points and held off the Spurs comeback attempt in the fourth quarter. The Spurs got within five points two different times in the fourth quarter, but the Mavericks countered to extend the lead both times the Spurs got close.

The Dallas Mavericks are in a battle for a Western Conference playoff berth, and tonight they are leading the Southwest Division leading Spurs 46-44 at the half. Dirk Nowitzki is leading all scorers with 19 points on 6-of-14 shooting plus he has made all seven of his free throw attempts.
The Mavericks were leading the Spurs by nine points after the first quarter, but the Spurs slowly came back to get back in this game. The Spurs made it close but they were not able to tie or take a lead in the second half.
The Spurs scoring has been more spread out with Tim Duncan and Tiago Splitter leading the way with seven points each. Duncan also has three blocks tonight.

The Dallas Mavericks could be without Shawn Marion for tonight's game against the San Antonio Spurs after the veteran forward sat out this morning's shootaround with a sore knee. Rick Carlisle says that Marion will be a game-time decision.

Marion has started all 45 games for the Mavericks this season and is averaging 11.2 points and 6.8 rebounds per game on 44 percent shooting. He is one of Dallas best defensive players and they will have a hard time replacing him if he is unable to suit up.
