NBA Trade Rumors: Jason Kidd Comments On Mavericks Pursuing Deron Williams

The Dallas Mavericks are rumored to be in the market for All-Star point guard Deron Williams of the New Jersey Nets. Although Williams won't comment on a potential move to the defending NBA Champs, Mavs veteran Jason Kidd is singing the praises of his potential future teammate.

Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News recently spoke to Kidd about his plans following the shortened 2011-12 season. Kidd said there's a possibility he could retire, but could also see himself signing up for a spot on the debuting Brooklyn Nets. He spoke highly of the talent of Deron Williams and indicated the PG could be a potential future teammate on either team.

A point guard he seemed eager to work with is Deron Williams. Kidd reiterated what he stated in this interview with the Record, when he said "it would be great to back up (Williams)."

"I know he'll play 40 minutes so I can give him an eight-minute break," Kidd said Monday. "Wherever he ends up - whether it's in Brooklyn or Dallas - that franchise has a great point guard."

There is a legitimate possibility that Williams and Kidd could both wind up playing on the same team in the next few weeks.
