The Dallas Mavericks were outscored 37-13 in the third quarter, a key swing that doomed them to a 113-94 loss to the Utah Jazz in Salt Lake City on Wednesday night.

The Mavericks closed the first half with a 63-55 lead after a three-point barrage from O.J. Mayo and Jae Crowder, who ended the night a combined 5-of-11 from behind the arc. But the Jazz would return the favor, closing out the final four minutes of the third quarter on an 18-2 run.

That Jazz run was keyed by newcomers Mo Williams and Marvin Williams, who hit timely three-pointers and scored 21 apiece for Utah. The three other Jazz starters, as well as Randy Foye off the bench, all scored in double digits for Utah, who had a 92-76 lead after three quarters.

Darren Collison led the Mavericks with 17 points while adding seven assists. Brandan Wright added 15 points for Dallas, which ended the night shooting less than 38 percent from the field.

Dallas will take two days off and play its home opener against the Charlotte Bobcats on Saturday.
