Shawn Marion burned his former club as the Dallas Mavericks won its second straight game without Dirk Nowitzki defeating the Phoenix Suns 93-87.
Marion scored a game-high 29 points with 17 coming in the second half to help secure the victory. Ian Mahinmi added 17 points and nine rebounds off the bench for the Mavs. Jason Terry (12 pts), Lamar Odom (11 pts) and Brendan Haywood (10 pts) all finished in double figures for Dallas.
Marcin Gortat and Grant Hill each scored 19 points to lead the Suns. Gortat also finished with 17 rebounds and three blocks. Shannon Brown chipped in 14 points off the bench. Former Mavericks point guard Steve Nash finished with eight points but handed out 12 assists in the loss.
Dallas capitalized on Phoenix miscues turning 19 turnovers into 17 points.

After a very offensive first quarter, the Dallas Mavericks and the Phoenix Suns settled down in the second with the Mavericks taking a 49-46 lead at halftime.
Without Dirk Nowitzki, Dallas has spread the wealth in the first half with three players reaching double figures. Shawn Marion leads the team with 12 points while Brendan Haywood and Ian Mahinmi have 10 points each. Mahinmi grabbed a team best six boards in the first half.
Grant Hill leads the Suns with 12 points and Shannon Brown chipped in 10 points off the bench. Steve Nash finished the half with just two points on 1-3 shooting but handed out five assists in the first half.

The Mavericks are taking on the Suns without all-star forward Dirk Nowitzki who is missing time due to a knee injury and is working up his stamina. The Suns have won two games in a row and are playing their last game of a five-game road trip.
