Mavericks Guard DeShawn Stevenson Arrested

Stay connected for news and updates

Apparently some of the Mavericks have been celebrating their first ever NBA title too much. Dallas Mavericks guard DeShawn Stevenson was arrested on Tuesday for public intoxication, according to the Star Telegram.

According to Irving police, Stevenson was walking and incoherent in the area of the Grand Venetian apartments near the 6200 block of Love Drive about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday. Police were called, and when the officers arrived and checked on Stevenson, he didn't know where he was, according to police.

After field sobriety tests and Stevenson's statements to officers, he was arrested without incident and later released on a $475 bond at approximately 5:30 this morning.

Well, at least Stevenson wasn't driving. It does seem entirely unnecessary to arrest him, though.

The NBA champions are set to appear on the Late Show with David Letterman on Wednesday night. We can probably expect a couple of painfully unfunny jokes from Letterman on the matter.
