Carlisle Says He's Fine, Could Coach Saturday's Preseason Game

Earlier this afternoon, head coach Rick Carlisle collapsed during a Dallas Mavericks practice. Luckily, everything seems to be okay now according to several tweets from NBA.com’s Art Garcia.

Rick Carlisle tells me he’s fine. No word on whether he’s traveling w/team today to Cali.

Rick Carlisle hasn’t been ruled out for Sat’s preseason game vs. PHX. Could still meet team in Cali if cleared by doctors.

Dwane Casey is likely to assume coaching duties if Rick Carlisle unable to make tomorrow night’s Mavs-Suns game.

There still aren’t any details on what actually caused him to collapse.

Mavericks Coach Rick Carlisle Collapses During Practice, Is Taken To Hospital

Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle collapsed during this afternoon's practice, and subsequently removed from the floor via stretcher and hospitalized, mere hours before his team was scheduled to travel for Saturday's preseason game against the Phoenix Suns, reports Eddie Sefko of the Dallas Morning News:

It was unknown specifically what happened to Carlisle, who was sitting up on the stretcher when he was wheeled toward the loading dock at about 12:38 p.m. An ambulance was waiting. At 12:50 p.m., the ambulance left the loading dock.

It's a scary situation for the 50-year-old Carlisle and the Mavericks, though he seems to have stabilized:

Carlisle was resting comfortably, but will not accompany the team to Indian Wells, Calif., this afternoon, where the Mavericks play Phoenix on Saturday night.

As he was taken out of the arena, Carlisle was moving his arms and was alert.

We'll update this stream as more information about his condition becomes available.
