Dallas Cowboys Training Camp: Offensive Line Struggles Popping Up In Oxnard

The Dallas Cowboys signed two former guards on the roster, as Derrick Dockery and Daniel Loper both signed one-year deals this week. The reason? The Cowboys now have four interior linemen hurt and are unavailable for practice as training camp has only been up for a week.

This is just the latest in a major shakeup of things on the offensive line unit for the Cowboys in their training camp at Oxnard. The Cowboys have a new offensive line coach in Bill Callahan, new starting tackles in Tyron Smith at left tackle and Doug Free at right tackle as they've switched sides.

Although Dockery and Loper might have some familiarity with players on the roster and some of the coaches, they'll be in for some changes with their new offensive line coach in Callahan. Per the Washington Post:

"There's no question that's a negative factor for those guys, because Bill has really emphasized how he wants to do things technically and there are some changes in what we're doing with our protections and our run game, so some of that stuff, they're not familiar with, but I think more than anything else, it's snaps in NFL games that's a real advantage for those guys."

The Cowboys had also worked out former guard Montrae Holland, but Holland tweeted Friday night that things didn't quite work out.

"Well I don't think it will work out being back in Dallas right now. Would love to be a Cowboy, but couldn't find middle ground."

We'll have more updates from Oxnard as we get them, stay tuned for more.
