Morris Claiborne Injury Update: Cowboys First Round Choice, Has Minor MCL Sprain

Stay connected for news and updates

Reports are surfacing out of Oxnard, California on Saturday that former LSU Tigers cornerback and Dallas Cowboys' first-round pick Morris Claiborne is expected to miss a few practices after suffering a minor MCL knee sprain. ESPN's Ed Werder was the first to report the story.

Cowboys officials don't believe the injury is serious and they scheduled Claiborne for an MRI after Friday's practice. Head coach Jason Garrett will be cautious with their promising cornerback.

"He got treatment on it (Thursday), his knee flared up a little bit on him, so he tried to go in the early part of practice and we took him out of it." -- Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett

The depth chart for the Cowboys at cornerback consists of Claiborne, Brandon Carr, Mike Jenkins, Orlando Scandrick, Mario Butler, C.J. Wilson, Lionel, Teddy Williams.
