Cowboys Roster Cuts: Dallas Release RB Lance Dunbar, According To Report

Stay connected for news and updates

The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly going to release backup running back Lance Dunbar, according to Calvin Watkins of ESPN Dallas. The Cowboys plan on keeping three running back and the ones who are expected to be on the 53-man roster are DeMarco Murray, Felix Jones and Phillip Tanner.

After the Cowboys final preseason game on Wednesday, Dunbar felt he performed well enough to win a roster spot, as he rushed for 105 yards:

"I think I did enough. But I think I could have done better. I could have made more tackles on special teams ... it was an alright performance."

The Cowboys like Dunbar and if he clears waivers they would bring him back and sign him to be on the practice squad. No roster moves have been made official by the Cowboys, and the cut off time to trim rosters to 53 players is 8 p.m. CT.
