Phil Costa is expected to play in Dallas' final preseason game against Miami, while Jay Ratliff might not be ready for Dallas' regular season opener.

The Dallas Cowboys received both good news and bad news on the injury front over the last couple days.

Center Phil Costa is expected to play in the preseason finale, and be ready for the season opener against the New York Giants, while nose tackle Jay Ratliff suffered a high ankle sprain, putting his status for the Week 1 showdown against the Giants in question.

Jerry Jones told the Dallas Morning News that he's "expecting Costa to play" on Wednesday against Miami, when the Cowboys take on the Dolphins in Dallas' final preseason game.

Jones wasn't as optimistic when speaking about Ratliff.

"Well, yeah, concerned about any injury getting to that we're within 10 days of playing, so you have to be concerned about it," Jones said.

Ratliff missed the first two preseason games because of plantar fascitis, and now stands a good chance to miss Dallas' regular season opener.
