Even though he's long been supplanted on the depth chart by DeMarco Murray, Dallas Cowboys running back Felix Jones has an assured roster spot in 2012 if owner Jerry Jones has any say in it (he does), according to Tim McMahon at ESPN Dallas.
Felix Jones failed the Cowboys' conditioning test earlier in camp, but Jerry Jones snapped at KRLD-FM on Monday when asked if the former first-round pick from Arkansas needs to worry when the final 53-man roster is released.
"That’s a ridiculous thought," Jerry Jones said. "I’m not worried about him at all. From what I’ve seen out there, he’s got a chance to have a big year for us."
While Felix Jones has gotten bigger and lost some of the burst that has made him a good change-of-pace back in the NFL, he's the only running back behind Murray with any experience. That, along with the endorsement of fellow Arkansas alum/team owner/general manager, pretty much assures Felix Jones a spot.
