Elliot Harrison, author of the power rankings, offered this quite-accurate quip regarding the Cowboys:
Dez Bryant can screw up off the field all he wants. ... Miles Austin and DeMarco Murray can play 16 games, unlike last season. ... And Tony Romo can play out of his mind once again. ... But none of it will mean diddly-poo if the interior of the Cowboys' offensive line continues to suck. Right tackle Doug Free isn't much better.
Dallas's offensive line certainly has the potential to be the Achilles heel of an otherwise very good team. Giving Tony Romo time to operate -- and keeping him healthy -- will be one of the keys to Dallas's 2012 season.
Two NFC East rivals fared better than Dallas in the rankings, with the New York Giants ranked No. 1 while the Philadelphia Eagles were ranked No. 8. Despite the addition of Robert Griffin III, the Washington Redskins are toward the bottom of the rankings, coming in at No. 25.
