Dez Bryant Charged With Class A Misdemeanor

Police in DeSoto, a suburb of Dallas, announced on Friday that they would file a Class A misdemeanor family violence charge against Dez Bryant.

Bryant had turned himself in earlier in the week after his mother accused him of domestic violence.

↵

Most likely, as Bryant is a first-time offender without a criminal history, he will be offered some type of plea bargain deal where he is put on probation and performs community service, allowing him to avoid jail time.

↵

However, if he pleads guilty to a criminal charge, his conduct will come under the purview of NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, who would have the right to suspend him for his off-field behavior. The legal process usually doesn't operate that quickly, so there could be a significant lag time before any of Bryant's legal matters are resolved.

Either way, the spotlight is now firmly on the Cowboys troubled young WR, and he'll be under even more pressure to perform this season.
