Amani Toomer Thinks Tony Romo Is Better Than Eli Manning

We just can't manage to get through an entire summer without the old "elite" quarterback debate cropping up. Last summer, Eli Manning caused a bit of a ruckus when he considered himself to be in Tom Brady's class...which he's not, but that's beside the point.

Former New York Giants wide receiver, and former teammate of Manning's, Amani Toomer told SiriusXM Radio that Tony Romo is a better quarterback than Eli Manning.

"Tony Romo is probably, if you look at it, statistically, he's probably the best quarterback in the NFC East," Toomer said on the "Movin' the Chains" show on SiriusXM NFL Radio. "You look at Eli Manning and what he does in the fourth quarter, but you talk about consistency, talking about 31 touchdowns and only 10 interceptions, that guy (Romo) can play."

Yes, yes he can play, and he can play at a very high level.

"I'm talking about for me, if I wanted a guy that is going to throw less interceptions and be more productive, higher completion percentage, I'm going to go with Tony Romo," Toomer said.

Fewer interceptions and higher productivity is what you should be looking for from the quarterback position, and that's what Romo provides.

Sure, Manning has won two Super Bowls, and sure, they both came against the New England Patriots. And yes, Manning did lead crucial drives to win both games, but that does not make him one of the best quarterbacks of all-time, and it does not necessarily make him a better passer than Romo.

It simply means that the Giants were a far superior team from top to bottom, starting at the top with roster construction (hello, Jerry). Manning has been put in a much better position to succeed than Romo, and he's delivered.

With a drastically improved secondary, hopefully the Cowboys will finally be giving Romo the best opportunity to win over the next few seasons, so he can have his chance to prove his skeptics wrong, much like Manning.
