2012 NFL Free Agency: Cowboys And Redskins File Grievance Against NFL Regarding Salary Cap Sanctions

NFL Owners are in Florida this week for the annual owners meetings, and one of the matters that will be discussed amongst certain individuals is the grievance filed by the Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys regarding a recent ruling in which the league office stripped them of substantial salary cap space as a result of non-complicance during the 2010 uncapped year. According to Rob Phillips of DallasCowboys.com, the NFL confirmed that the grievances were filed.

Moreover, Albert Breer of the NFL Network says that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and Redskins GM Bruce Allen were busy this morning stating their case regarding the matter.

The timetable with which the NFL will hear the entirety of the grievances and ultimately make a decision regarding how to proceed remains unclear. The ruling, which reportedly stripped the Redskins of $36 million and Dallas of $10 million in cap space, has not prevented either team from making a splash in free agency this offseason.
