Martellus Bennett Agrees To 1-Year $2.5 Million Deal With New York Giants

After four up-and-down seasons with the Dallas Cowboys since being a second round draft pick in 2008, Martellus Bennett agreed to a 1-year $2.5 million deal with their arch-rival New York Giants on Wednesday:

Bennett, a 6'6 270 TE from Texas A&M, was never able to utilize his vast physical talents in Dallas.

Not only was he behind All-Pro TE Jason Witten on the depth chart, but there were rumors about his attitude and professional throughout his stay with the Cowboys.

He never improved on his rookie season, where he made 20 catches for 283 yards and pulled down 4 TD's. In the ensuing three years, he never found the end zone again, a pretty damning statement for a player with his size and athleticism.

Bennett had been passed by third-year TE on the depth chart, which made his multi-million salary redundant. However his departure does leave Dallas thin at the position, with no one on the roster besides Witten and Phillips.
