With Tony Romo missing games in each of the last two seasons and Jon Kitna retiring, the Dallas Cowboys clearly wanted to address the backup QB situation in free agency.
On Wednesday, they reportedly signed former Kansas City Chiefs QB Kyle Orton to a three-year deal:

Orton has had several stints as an NFL starter in his career in Chicago, Denver and Kansas City, but the 30-year old is probably resigned to being a backup at this point.
Last season, in nine games with the Broncos and the Chiefs, he had a QB rating of 77.8 while throwing for 1,578 yards, 9 TD's and 9 INT's.
What his signing means for the future of Stephen McGee, the former Texas A&M QB who the Cowboys had been grooming as a developmental option for the last three seasons, remains to be seen.
