NFL Week 13 picks

US PRESSWIRE

Week 13 of the NFL is upon us, and as is weekly tradition here at SB Nation Dallas, John Paul Starkey is here to pick the winner of each and every game.

106-58-1.

Through the first 12 weeks of the season, that's my record picking games straight up. If you've listened to my advice throughout the year, well, I'm humbled and you're welcome.

Week 13 features a boatload of interesting games, and the playoff picture should become increasingly clear after this week. The Cowboys desperately need a win -- but what else is new?

On with the picks!

Jacksonville Jaguars (+7) at Buffalo Bills -- Oy. Two really ugly franchises here. Like, the Madonna and Cameron Diaz of the NFL. I don't really see any reason to pick the Jaguars to win, and I need C.J. Spiller to have a big day for fantasy, so we'll go with the Bills winning and covering. Please?

Seattle Seahawks (+3.5) at Chicago Bears -- I do not like the Seahawks on the road at all. Especially not with a rookie quarterback against one of the best defenses in the league. I'll take Jay Cutler, warts and all, to win and cover.

Indianapolis Colts (+6.5) at Detroit Lions -- I don't really know what to make of either team. The Colts aren't bad, and the Lions are mystifying. The Lions should be good, but they're just...not. Still, I like Matthew Stafford to outscore Andrew Luck. Lions win, Colts cover.

Minnesota Vikings (+9.5) at Green Bay Packers -- I'm not sure what to make of Aaron Rodgers and the Discount Doublecheckers, but, I do know that they're better than Minnesota by a fair margin. Packers win, but Adrian Peterson keeps it interesting enough, and the Vikes cover.

Carolina Panthers (-4) at Kansas City Chiefs -- On a serious note, the events that took place in Kansas City on Saturday are nothing short of awful and tragic. It's amazing that Romeo Crennel is even going to coach this game. I can't pick the Chiefs to win, but they'll play their hearts out and cover. Carolina wins.

New England Patriots (-9) at Miami Dolphins -- Tom Brady solidifies himself as the leading MVP candidate in this game, and the Patriots clinch the AFC East. Again. Pats win, and cover -- despite Miami being a house of horrors for the Pats.

Arizona Cardinals (+6) at New York Jets -- Things really can't get worse for the Jets, can they? I mean, they could, but against the Cardinals? I don't know, man. I like the St. Louis Cardinals, but the Arizona version? Jets win, and cover.

San Francisco 49ers (-8) at St. Louis Rams -- Controversial or not, Jim Harbaugh made the right choice going with Colin Kaepernick at quarterback. The Rams are one of the more mystifying teams in the NFL; some weeks they look pretty darn good, and others, they're just awful. This is going to be an awful week for St. Louis. Niners win, and cover.

Houston Texans (-7) at Tennessee Titans -- I guess the Texans are going to be the No. 1 seed in the AFC, huh? I don't think I'd be scared to play an AFC title game in Houston, but we'll see how much of a home field advantage they get there. Oh. Something about the Titans, right. They're not good. Texans win and cover.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+7.5) at Denver Broncos -- This might be the best game of the week. Tampa Bay has been playing extremely well lately, and have the top run defense in the league. Tampa Bay also has the worst pass defense in the league. Broncos win, but Bucs cover.

Pittsburgh Steelers (+8.5) at Baltimore Ravens -- There's no reason to pick the Steelers to win, so I won't. Even when Ben Roethlisberger is out though, the Steelers play the Ravens close. Pittsburgh covers, Baltimore wins.

Cleveland Browns (-1) at Oakland Raiders -- Are the Raiders once again a joke? You bet they are. Are they big enough jokers to lose to the Browns at home? Yes sir. Browns win, cover.

Cincinnati Bengals (even) at San Diego Chargers -- Ginger quarterback against hot head quarterback? Ginger QB has a good team, and something to play for. Norv Turner and the Bolts? Not a whole lot. Gimme the Bengals.

Philadelphia Eagles (+10.5) at Dallas Cowboys -- For some reason, when NBC picked up this game, I doubt they were expecting to be broadcasting Nick Foles' third start, and the slow death march of the end of Andy Reid's career in Philly. Cowboys win, but Eagles cover.

New York Giants (-3) at Washington Redskins -- It would be really boring if the Giants won this game, yeah? Very little NFC East drama would be on the horizon. In the interest of...interests, I'll pick Robert Griffin III and the 'Skins in the upset.
