With the 12th pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings selected Florida State quarterback Christian Ponder in somewhat of a shocking move.
The Vikings had been rumored to be trying to trade out of the pick, but instead opted to take Ponder to be Brett Favre’s heir apparent.
Ponder’s selection marks the fourth quarterback taken in the first 12 picks: Cam Newton, Jake Locker, Blaine Gabbert and now Christian Ponder.
