Dallas Cowboys Trade Deadline: Jerry Jones Decided Against Trading Tashard Choice

The Dallas Cowboys had at least two teams interested in running back Tashard Choice, but Jerry Jones decided against trading the backup running back due to Felix Jones being out 2 to 4 weeks with a high-ankle sprain at the end of the half after he caught a 7-yard catch.

With Jones inured, Choice is set to become the starting running back and will receive the bulk of the carries and rookie DeMarco Murray will be the primary backup and get a chance to prove himself until Jones is healthy and back in the lineup in a few weeks.

In other Cowboys non-trade news, they also were considering trading tight end Martellus Bennett, but there was no interest. Both Choice and Bennett will be unrestricted free agents and it looks like neither will be back with the Cowboys in 2012.

Dallas Cowboys Trade Rumors: Could Tashard Choice Be Gone Tomorrow?

With Felix Jones locked into the RB1 position in the depth chart and rookie tailback Demarco Murray playing well in spots, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones could be looking to move fourth-year running back Tashard Choice by tomorrow's trade deadline.

Jones told NFL Network's Alex Flanagan on NBC Sunday that he has received numerous calls on the availability of  Choice and will consider dealing the running back back before Tuesday's trade deadline. Choice, has carried the ball 26 times for 67 yards through five games this season. In Sunday's game he carried the ball five times for 14 yards in a 20-16 loss to the Patriots.

Could Jones be legitimately fielding offers for Choice, or is this letting teams now that Choice is actually available?

Choice was drafted by the Cowboys in the 4th-round of the 2008 NFL Draft out of Georgia Tech and in his fourth-season he's carried the ball 248 times for 1,131 yards and 8 touchdowns.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told NFL Network's Alex Flanagan on NBC that he has fielded phone calls on Tashard Choice and will consider dealing the running back back before Tuesday's trade deadline.

In other news, if anyone wants to sell me a Bentley for a few thousand bucks, I will consider it.

There was talk a couple of years ago about teams offering a high round pick for Choice, who was originally a fourth rounder in 2008. Jones has seen his value bottom out just before this deadline, and Felix Jones is now nursing a high ankle sprain, so I guess it's time to shop him.
