Friday's Baylor Bears win against the ULM Warhawks proved to be one of the most exciting games of the college football season. Despite the 47-42 win, Mark C. Moore over at Our Daily Bears said Baylor showed many positives and negatives that will follow the team all season long:
Our offense did basically everything I expected against ULM's defense. Yes, the two interceptions were killers early, especially the first, but overall they showed an attack that should send shivers up the spines of Big XII defensive coordinators. Baylor finished with 544 yards on 88 plays, the ninth time in a row the team topped 500 yards. Our offense is the most known of known quantities. And it appears we will go as far as they take us.
Moore went on to call the Bears' defense an abomination, as Louisiana-Monroe put up 560 yards of total offense. On the plus side, Moore called Baylor's receivers the strength of the team as Tevin Reese, Terrance Williams and Lanear Sampson combined for 322 yard receiving.

The Bears brought their win streak to nine games as they survived a road trip to Northeastern Louisiana on Friday night in a 47-42 thriller that only vaguely resembled a conventional football game.

The Baylor Bears were able to come back from a 14-0 first quarter deficit to defeat the upset minded ULM Warhawks 47-42. Baylor starting quarterback Nick Florence threw two interceptions in the first quarter which led to both ULM touchdowns, but after that Florence and the Baylor offense kicked into high gear as they outscored ULM 47-28 the rest of the way.
Florence rebounded nicely by ending his day by completing 26-of-39 passes for 351 yards and four touchdowns. Wide receiver Tevin Reese was one of Florence's main targets as he caught eight passes for 145 yards and two touchdowns, and the other two touchdowns were thrown to Terrance Williams.
Once the Bears made their comeback in the second quarter, they were unable to put away the Warhawks until late in the second half. ULM took their first possession in the second half for a touchdown on a 58-yard touchdown run by Jyruss Edwards to go up 28-24. The same thing happened at the beginning of the fourth quarter where the Warhawks took a 35-34 lead on a 1-yard touchdown run by quarterback Kolton Browning.
The game was sealed for Baylor when ULM's Edwards fumbled the ball at the Baylor's 38-yard line with 5:40 left in the game. Baylor took the ball and drove down the field in 10 plays, including converting a 4th-and-1, and Florence connected with Terrance Williams on a 22-yard touchdown to put the game out of reach.
Box Score Hero: Baylor quarterback Nick Florence recovered from a poor first quarter where he threw two interceptions, but he rebounded nicely to complete 26-of-39 passes for 351 yards and four touchdowns. He also ran the ball nine times for 55 yards.
Rankings Ramifications: Baylor has a real good chance of being ranked, prior to this game they were 27th in AP Poll and 28th in USA Today Coaches Poll.
But Did They Cover? Nope, ULM scores a touchdown with six seconds left cover the 8.5-point spread.

The offenses cooled off some between the Baylor Bears and ULM Warhawks, but Baylor was able to extend their advantage by leading 34-28 after three quarters, by outscoring Louisiana-Monroe 10-7. The first touchdown of the second half came when Louisiana-Monroe running back Jyruss Edwards ran past the Baylor defense for 58 yards for the score.
Baylor responded later in the third quarter when Nick Florence through his third touchdown of the game when he connected with Tevin Reese on a 46-yard touchdown pass. That was Reese's second touchdown of the game, and put Baylor back in the lead 28-24.
Late in the third quarter, Baylor marched down inside their 10-yard line, and had to settle for a 21-yard field goal instead of a touchdown.

The second quarter saw a completely different Baylor Bears football team, after trailing 14-0 after the first quarter they rallied to outscore ULM Warhawks 24-7 and now have a 24-21 lead at the half.
Baylor quarterback Nick Florence rebounded after a poor first quarter where he threw two interceptions that led to both Louisiana-Monroe touchdowns. Since then Florence has completed 8-of-12 for 160 yards and two touchdowns in the second quarter. For the game Florence is 13-for-20 for 188 yards.
The first touchdown for Baylor came on a 11-play, 68 yard drive which was capped off on a 1-yard run by Glasco Martin. The next touchdown was set up when Baylor recovered a fumble, and on the very next play Florence completed a 48-yard touchdown pass to Terrance Williams which tied the game at 21 apiece.
Baylor was able to go up by three points when they stopped ULM who went for it on fourth down, and they drove down the field and converted a 34-yard field goal. At the end of the half Florence left the game, for reasons unknown right now, with backup Bryce Petty coming in and running the ball to converte on fourth down. Then he completed an 8-yard pass to set up the field goal.

Mistakes have plagued the Baylor Bears in the first quarter against the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks as they trail 14-0. Baylor quarterback Nick Florence has completed 6-of-9 passes for 31 yards, however he has already thrown two interceptions which led to both Louisiana-Monroe touchdowns. The first interception came at midfield and the Warhawks were able to score five plays latter on a 22-yard touchdown pass.
The other interception was more costly for Baylor as it came at the Louisiana-Monroe 12-yard line. Once again the Baylor defense allowed Louisiana-Monroe to march down the field 78 yards to put up another score to increase their lead to 14-0.
Louisiana-Monroe has also successfully used a two-quarterback system against Baylor with Kolton Browning and Cody Wells. The two have combined to complete 9-of-13 for 88 yards with Browning owning the one passing touchdown.

The Baylor Bears will be wearing all-black uniforms and gold helmets in their road game against the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks. Some Baylor fans were hoping for the black matte or green helmets instead of the gold shell with the green BU on the helmet.
The uniforms also have some wings on the shoulder pads which are similar to Oregon, but wouldn't it make more sense to have a bear paw or tear across the shoulder pads instead?
Louisiana-Monroe is countering with an all-white uniform and attempting to have the stadium be a white out as well. The contrast of these two uniforms will be quite interesting later Friday night.
Baylor may need more than these new uniforms against ULM if they are going to win. ULM has played well against two SEC teams, they defeated Arkansas in overtime and nearly upset Auburn, also an overtime game.

The Baylor Bears head on the road to take on Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday, looking to extend the nation's second-longest winning streak. The Bears, after winning the first two games of the season, have now won eight straight games dating back to 2011.
No. 17 TCU currently holds the longest streak in the nation at ten, while Alabama and South Carolina sit in third with seven straight wins.

"You're going to see two teams that are going to go out there and lay it on the line every snap," Berry said. "It's going to be fast-break football like you've never seen before in terms of the speed of the game."
The Warhawks are 1-1 to start the season, coming off a 31-28 overtime loss against Auburn and now welcoming Baylor for the team's home opener in Monroe. Kickoff is set for 7:01 p.m. CT with coverage on ESPN.

Baylor Bears tailback Lache Seastrunk has carried the football four times for 54 yards so far in the 2012 season. Baylor head coach Art Briles isn't disappointed with Seastrunk's average per carry, though he says there's always space for improvement:
Briles said he hopes "his carries progress and his yards-per-carry stays the same, because it is pretty good right now … The thing I like about him is his attitude and his personality. He’s really working hard in practice, doing a good job, doing all he can do to give himself a chance to get on the field."
Seastrunk, a Temple native, was one of three running backs in the 2010 high school class rated as a five star prospect by Rivals.com, along with South Carolina's Marcus Lattimore and Michael Dyer. He redshirted at Oregon before transferring to Baylor to play in 2012.

If you had guessed the line before Baylor's game against Louisiana-Monroe before the season started, it would probably have been at least two or three scores.
But after the WarHawks stunned Arkansas and took Auburn to OT on the road in the last two weeks, the feisty Sun Belt team is only a +7.5 underdog.
Baylor, meanwhile, really hasn't been tested much in 2012. The Bears drubbed an overmatched SMU team, 59-24, and beat Sam Houston State, an FCS team, 48-23, with both games in Waco.
Now, before they begin a murderer's row in Big 12 play, they have to travel to a Sun Belt stadium to face what should be a rowdy home crowd in what was clearly a huge mistake in scheduling.
Nevertheless, despite their success against the SEC, there's no guarantee Louisiana-Monroe can stay with a Baylor program on the upswing. Arkansas followed up its loss to the WarHawks with a 52-0 home loss to Alabama, while Auburn's Gene Chizik is already on the hot seat after a 1-2 start to 2012.
The game is expected to be extremely high-scoring, as the over/under is 68.5.

After victories over SMU and Sam Houston State, the third game of the season for the Baylor Bears was supposed to be the final tune-up before a brutal three-game stretch against No. 8 West Virginia, No. 17 TCU and No. 12 Texas. However, the ULM Warhawks look like much more than just a tune-up after consecutive overtime games against SEC opponents.
The Bears are still favored to win by more than a touchdown, and deservedly so considering the strength of their victories, but the Warhawks have proven themselves to be far from a cupcake. One week after defeating the Arkansas Razorbacks in overtime, ULM took the Auburn Tigers to overtime, although they were unable to earn the victory.
While neither Arkansas nor Auburn are the powerhouses they once were, and both programs have certainly struggled in 2012, a Sun Belt Conference team simply shouldn't be able to compete with an SEC level of talent.
But they have and now when the Warhawks host their first game of the season, it will be in front of an energized crowd rooting for a team that has captured the attention of media outlets everywhere. A win on the road against ULM is no given and the matchup now has much more intrigue than anyone would've thought when the schedule was originally announced.
