Baylor Football Recruiting 2013: Bears Pick Up A Pair Of Defensive Backs

The Baylor Bears have been piling up the verbal commits recently, and this past weekend they picked up their 16th and 17th commit for their 2013 class. No. 16 was safety Alfred Pullom out of Cypress, Texas who is currently listed between a two- and three-star player according to the recruiting services. He has yet to receive and evaluation from ESPN or Rivals.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pound safety had offers from other major schools as Arkansas, Wake Forest, Texas Tech, Arizona State, Duke and Houston. Pullom is also a two-star star at Cypress Woods High School, but he is expected to fully concentrate on football in college.

Highlights of Alfred can be found over at Hudl.

The 17th recruit for Baylor was another defensive back in Wesley Harris who is a 6-foot-1, 175-pound rising player out of Southwest High School in Fort Worth. Officially Harris is listed as an athlete, but he will play cornerback for Baylor. Harris had only one other offer listed which was from Louisiana Tech, but he had interest from TCU and Texas Tech.

The decision to choose Baylor came Saturday morning and a day after attending a skills challenge that was held on Baylor's campus. He had already been to multiple camps at Baylor and is the school he has always wanted to play for, so when head coach Art Briles extended an offer Harris accepted:

"I know coach Briles was at Houston when my cousin was at U of H," Harris said. "If I thought about it, the school location (for Baylor) is a great location. It's not too far from home, but not too close to home. It's a good place to go to. And it's great that Robbie [Rhodes and high school teammate] will be there."

Harris will continue to play quarterback at high school, and will play cornerback for the first time in his career during his senior season.
