2013 NFL Draft: Todd McShay Has Jackson Jeffcoat As A Top 3 Pick

As ESPN Insider Todd McShay acknowledges in his 2013 mock draft, the whole process is pretty much an exercise in futility, as six players from his 2012 mock draft in May of 2011 weren't even drafted this April.

However, twenty were while the other six returned to school, which gives you some indication of which college teams have elite NFL-bound talent.

One such player could be Texas DE Jackson Jeffcoat, who McShay has going No. 3 to the Minnesota Vikings in 2013.

Jeffcoat, a 6'5 250 rising junior, has excelled since coming to Austin as one of the most highly touted prospects in the country out of Plano. As a true sophomore, he was a second-team All Big 12 selection, with 63 tackles, including 17 for loss and 8 sacks.

The son of former Dallas Cowboys DE and Houston DL coach Jim Jeffcoat, Jackson is the rare prospect who is both an elite athlete and fundamentally sound, a mouth-watering combination for NFL scouts.

Playing opposite of Alex Okafor, who is a first-round prospect in his own right, Jackson could have the type of dominant junior season that causes him to declare early for the 2013 NFL Draft.
