2012 NFL Draft: Washington Redskins Select QB Kirk Cousins In Fourth Round

While Baylor star Robert Griffin III seems in line to be the face of the Washington Redskins franchise, the team threw a giant curveball on the third day of the NFL Draft in selecting Michigan State QB Kirk Cousins in the fourth round.

The last time a team selected two QB's in the draft this high was in 1989, when the Dallas Cowboys picked up Troy Aikman and Steve Walsh.

As the old saying goes, if you have two QB's, you don't have any. The Redskins will need to establish a pecking order early in the process in order to ensure a QB controversy doesn't ensue between Cousins and Griffin, especially if RG3 struggles out the gate.

Cousins, a fairly polished 6'3 215 pro-style QB, was seen as the best QB available on the third day. In his senior season, he led the Spartans to the Big 10 Championship Game while completing 63.7% of his passes for 3,316 yards, 25 TD's and 10 INT's.
