NCAA Selection Sunday 2012: Time, TV Schedule And More

The Baylor Bears, who carved up a good Kansas State team and a very good team in top-seeded Kansas on their way to the Big 12 Basketball Tournament championship game, are a consensus lock for the NCAA Tournament beginning next week, but there is less certainty concerning the status of rival Lone Star State school Texas.

Most college basketball analysts have Texas (20-13, 9-9 in Big 12 play) in the Big Dance, but after losing to Big 12 Tournament champion Missouri in the semifinal round of the conference tournament on Friday, the Longhorns are hoping that their quarterfinal win over third-seeded Iowa State was enough to secure their NCAA Tournament ticket. Chances are the Longhorns will be packing for their 14th consecutive NCAA appearance, but they will have to wait for the tournament and regional assignments to be announced on Sunday to be sure.

After slipping slightly late in the season, with twin losses to both Kansas and Missouri, the league's top two teams, the Bears (27-6, 12-6) stepped up their game at the right time, winning three of their last four games heading into the Big 12 Tournament and knocking off Kansas State and Kansas in the tournament to advance to the championship final with Missouri. The Bears 90-75 loss in the championship game to Missouri, which is certain to be in the top five in the national polls after conference-championship weekend, should do nothing to hurt 11th-ranked Baylor's NCAA seeding.

The full NCAA Tournament bracket will be unveiled beginning at 6 p.m. ET Sunday on the NCAA Tournament "Selection Show" on CBS.

Date/Time: Sunday, March 11, 6:00 p.m. ET

Baylor Vs. Missouri Final: Bears Defense Implodes In 90-75 Loss

Baylor's defense was helpless before Missouri's offensive onslaught in the Big 12 Championship Game, rendering a strong offensive effort meaningless in a 90-75 loss in Kansas City.

The 1-3-1 zone created huge driving lanes for Phil Pressey and Marcus Denmon, who took turns penetrating into the heart of Baylor's defense.

Five different Tigers scored at least 15 points, with Michael Dixon running the offense off the bench while Kim English and Ricardo Ratliffe worked off their teammates to knock down wide-open shots from all over the floor.

English was the difference in the game, as he was able to battle Perry Jones III and Quincy Miller into a draw in the paint as well as knock down 5-8 three-point attempts en route to scoring a game-high 19 points.

The Bears defensive collapse overshadowed a strong and balanced offensive effort which featured huge contributions from the inconsistent bench duo of AJ Walton and Deuce Bello, who combined for 21 points and 10 rebounds.

With Jones, who had 16 points and 11 rebounds, playing his best basketball of the season, Baylor will be a tough out for anyone in the country. However, they'll need a much stronger defensive effort to make it out of the first weekend, much less make a run to the Final Four.

Baylor Vs. Missouri Halftime Score: Bears Down 43-37

In a battle of contrasting styles, Baylor used their size to dominate an undersized Missouri team in the paint in the first half.

However, the Tigers were able to fillet the Bears 1-3-1 zone on the other end of the floor, racing out to a 43-37 lead after twenty minutes in the Big 12 Tournament Championship in Kansas City.

Missouri PG Phil Pressey only had 4 points, but he was able to exploit the huge driving lanes created by the Baylor zone to rack up 6 assists in the first half. Marcus Denmon and Ricardo Ratliffe, both with 11 points, were two of the biggest beneficiaries of Pressey's penetration.

The Bears were led by Perry Jones III and Quincy Miller, who combined for 15 points as they attacked the much smaller Tiger front-line in the paint.

With the 6'6 Kim English playing out of position at the power forward spot, the game may turn on whether Baylor can exploit their size differential without letting English get free on the three-point line.

VIDEO: Perry Jones III And Marcus Denmon Playing Above The Rim

Missouri and Baylor have gotten off to a frenetic start in the first half of the Big 12 Tournament Championship in Kansas City Saturday.

With Kansas' loss to the Bears in the semifinals, both teams have the opportunity to improve their seeding in the NCAA Tournament with a win.

The Tigers have been led in the scoring column by senior G Marcus Denmon, who has rebounded from one of the worst performances of his career, a 2 point effort on 0-10 shooting against Texas on Friday. His best play came on a fast break, where he used his body to attack the chest of 6'11 235 Perry Jones III and score with a reverse lay-up:

Jones got his revenge a few minutes later, displaying his jaw-dropping combination of length, athleticism and skill level in rejecting Denmon above the rim and leading the fast break:

Big 12 Tournament Finals, Baylor Vs. Missouri Game Time, TV Schedule And More

While it may not have been the match-up that most of the national media expected, the fourth-seeded Baylor Bears have advanced to the Big 12 Conference Championship after an 81-72 victory over the Kansas Jayhawks on Friday evening. Now for an encore the Bears will face the high-octane Missouri Tigers, who are coming off a 81-67 victory over the Texas Longhorns.

For Baylor, their keys to the game will be to settle down and see if they can put yesterday's upset of Kansas in the rear view mirror. Though it's the conference tournament, the Bears are basically a road team for the third consecutive game.

Coach Scott Drew's team has been able to overcome that disadvantage so far, however with this being Missouri's last ever Big 12 game, emotions should be running high for both players and the fans.

Big 12 Basketball Tournament 2012: Day Four Bracket, Schedule And More

The Baylor Bears have already pulled one massive upset - shocking the 2012 Big 12 Tournament No. 1 seed Kansas 81-72 on Friday evening - and now they could move up in the NCAA Tournament seedings if they've got another win left in Kansas City against Missouri at 5 p.m. CT Saturday.

Based on prognostications, Baylor is looking to move past a No. 3 seed, and Mizzou could try to use a Big 12 tourney win to grab a No. 1 seed.

CBS' Jerry Palm has the Tigers as a No. 2 seed (West) and the Bears as a No. 3 seed (East), while Joe Lundardi at ESPN has the exact same thing, minus a region change (Mizzou as No. 2 in the West, Baylor as No. 3 in the South). SB Nation's Chris Dobbertean has the same as well (Mizzou in the South, Baylor in the West)

Texas Vs. Missouri Final: Tigers Offense Too Much In 81-67 Loss

The Texas Longhorns battled for most of the game, but they were ultimately unable to withstand Missouri's balanced offensive attack in the semifinals of the Big 12 Tournament.

Texas lost 81-67 in a back-and-forth and occasionally chippy game between a Missouri team looking to take advantage of Kansas' loss earlier in the day and a Longhorns team trying to move off the NCAA Tournament bubble.

With the loss, Texas will have to hold their breath on Selection Sunday. They are still favored to make the field of 68, but with a 20-13 record, it isn't totally guaranteed.

Despite getting only 2 points and 0-10 shooting from leading scorer Marcus Denmon, the Tigers put on an offensive barrage. Kim English had one of the best games of his career, scoring 23 points on 9-10 shooting while knocking down perimeter jumpers from all over the floor.

Missouri also got huge games from Ricardo Ratliffe, who finished with 18 points and 15 rebounds and Phil Pressey, who scored 23 points while knocking down 5-7 from beyond the arc.

J'Covan Brown, who had a scary fall in the second half into the bank of cameras behind the basket, scored 21 points but he never got into the flow of the game against the waves of long and athletic Tiger defenders. With Myck Kabongo struggling to keep pace with Pressey, Texas was unable to withstand Brown's 4 turnovers and 8-20 shooting.

Few teams in the country have improved as much as the Longhorns over the course of the season, now Texas will have to wait to see if the selection committee thinks it's been enough.

Texas Vs. Missouri Score Update: Longhorns Down 39-32 At The Half

Despite another slow start offensively from Myck Kabongo and J'Covan Brown, the Texas Longhorns have managed to maintain contact with No. 3 Missouri the entire first half.

Texas is down 39-32 after the game's first twenty minutes.

Missouri, one of the most explosive teams in the nation, was powered by hot shooting from Phil Pressey and Kim English who combined to go 12-16 from the field. The two combined for as many points (32) as the entire Longhorns roster.

With Brown and Kabongo struggling against the Tigers long and athletic perimeter defenders, Texas received a big offensive boost from their front-line. Freshman Jonathan Holmes, filling in for the injured Alexis Wangmene, gave the Longhorns 8 points and 3 bounds while Clint Chapman continued his strong play, with 7 points and 5 offensive rebounds.

Missouri's undersized front-line of the 6'6 English and 6'8 Ricardo Ratliffe are struggling to control their defensive backboards, so if Texas can stop turning the ball over they'll have a real opportunity to get back into the game.

Baylor Vs. Kansas Final Score: Bears Upset Jayhawks 81-72, Advance To Finals

The Baylor Bears have hit their stride at the right time as they upset the No. 1 seed Kansas Jayhawks 81-72, and now advance to the Big 12 championship game. The win for Baylor avenges two prior loses they had to Kansas this season, and the win also ends Kansas' two-year run as Big 12 conference tournament champions.

Baylor only shot 40 percent from the field, but they were able to make 9-of-19 from three-point range and connect on 24-of-28 free throws. Six Baylor players scored in double figures with Perry Jones III leading the way with 18 points and sophomore Brady Heslip contributed with 12 points which all came on three-point shots.

Kansas did made a comeback in the second half and took a two-point lead after going on a 14-2 run, but Baylor responded by scoring the next seven points to go ahead for good the rest of the way.

With the win Baylor will to take on the winner between the Texas Longhorns and Missouri Tigers in the Big 12 title game.

Baylor Vs. Kansas Halftime Score: Bears Lead Jayhawks 43-35

This is the Baylor Bears team that most expected to see this year as they are leading the No. 1 seed Kansas Jayhawks 43-35 at the half. Baylor's defense is doing a great job so far by holding Kansas to 42 percent shooting and has held Kansas' leading scorer Tyshawn Taylor who averages 17 points a game to only seven at the half.

Baylor's scoring attack has been balanced Friday night with Perry Jones III and Quincy Miller leading the way with 10 points each. The three-point shot is falling for Baylor as they have made 5-of-12 compared to Kansas who has only made one, and that is another reason why Baylor is leading Kansas at the half.

The odds are good that Baylor will win tonight as they are 22-1 this season when leading at halftime.

Big 12 Tournament 2012 Semifinals, Missouri Vs. Texas Game Time, TV Schedule And More

Texas kept its slim hopes of a NCAA berth alive on Thursday night by upsetting No. 3 seeded Iowa State 71-65. Most bracketology previews had the Longhorns as either the last team in the field of 68 or one of the first teams out, so the win was massive in giving UT some breathing room. A second upset against nationally ranked Missouri, the conference's No. 2 seed in the Big 12 tournament, would all but lock up a NCAA bid for the 'Horns.

Big 12 Tournament 2012, Baylor Vs. Kansas: Game Time, TV Schedule And More

The No. 4 seed Baylor Bears is taking on the No. 1 seed Kansas Jayhawks in the semifinal round of the Big 12 tournament. Baylor has lost both games against Kansas this year and neither game has been close with Baylor losing by double digits each time.

The bright side for Baylor is that they played one of their best games of the year today when they defeated Kansas State 82-74 and Perry Jones III had 31 points and 11 rebounds in the win.

During the post game press conference Jones talked about what they need to get past Kansas:

Defend. Defend and rebound. They're a great offensive and defensive team. They rebound really well. We've got to be able to rebound and get a lot of stops, as many stops as possible, because they can get on runs and it can get ugly. So just play defense.

Texas Vs. Iowa State Final: Brown's Shot Powers Longhorns Into Semifinals

After a back-and-forth Big 12 Tournament quarterfinal game against Iowa State, Texas' season, and their chance to extend their streak of 13 consecutive NCAA appearances, was on the line with the game tied 65-65 in the last minute.

There was never any doubt who would get the last shot: J'Covan Brown, the Big 12's leading scorer and a first-team all-conference selection, received the ball at the top of the key.

Brown had been hounded by aggressive perimeter defense of the 6'5 225 Chris Babb all night, shooting only 7-19 from the floor. So instead of settling for the jumper, he attacked Babb off the dribble, getting into the lane and drawing a decisive and-1 with :35 left in the game.

With Alexis Wangmene out for the season, the Longhorns other two veterans carried them, as Clint Chapman provided 10 huge points from the center position. His most important contribution came on the defensive end, where he was able to hold Iowa State's star PF Royce White to 17 points on 6-17 shooting.

Texas' defense kept them in the game, causing 14 turnovers, including a game-clinching one from White in the final :20 seconds. Their consistent defensive pressure made up for an off night from both Brown and Myck Kabongo, as neither could effectively create open looks for their teammates, with the Longhorns shooting 36.8% from the floor.

While the win doesn't completely move Texas off the NCAA Tournament bubble, it does them put them in an excellent position headed into Selection Sunday. On Thursday, bubble teams from the Pac-12 (Washington), Big Ten (Northwestern) and Big East (Seton Hall) all lost, which really cleared Texas' path to the field of 68.

The Longhorns will now advance to the semifinals, where they will meet Missouri in the second game of Friday night's double-header.

Texas Vs. Iowa State Score Update: Longhorns Down 28-25 At The Half

With both Myck Kabongo and J'Covan struggling to create shots, Texas' offense crawled to a standstill in the first half of their must-win Big 12 Tournament game against Iowa State.

Fortunately for the Longhorns, the Cyclones have been nearly as inept offensively and are up only 28-25 after 20 minutes of action.

With Alexis Wangmene out for the season after dislocating his wrist, Clint Chapman has provided a surprisingly strong defensive effort on Iowa State star Royce White, whose scored only 6 points.

The Cyclones stifling perimeter defense has forced Texas into taking contested jumpers at the end of the shot clock, as the Longhorns have shot only 26% from the floor in the first half.

The big difference in the game has been the 11 points from Iowa State's bench. With Wangmene out, Texas has gone to a seven-man rotation and the strain of chasing the Cyclones three-point shooters around the perimeter has clearly worn on their legs. The Longhorns had a number of shots die at the front of their rim.

In the second half, Texas will need Brown and Kabongo to draw fouls attacking the rim, as the free-throw line could be their biggest friend.

Baylor Vs. Kansas State Final: Bears Advance 82-74

After a rough end to the Big 12 season, Baylor played their best game in over a month with a dominating 82-74 victory over Kansas State in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament in Kansas City on Thursday.

The story of the game, besides the Bears eye-catching neon crayon uniforms, was the play of Perry Jones III, who had a career-high 31 points and 11 rebounds on 11-14 shooting.

The Wildcats had no answer for the length, athleticism and skill-level of Jones, who used his 6'11 235 frame to create easy shots at the rim at will.

On the other end of the ball, Baylor had a much more balanced ratio of man to zone defense, using AJ Walton to shadow Rodney McGruder all over the floor, hounding the Kansas State star to a 5-13 shooting performance.

With the win, the Bears advance to play the winner of the Kansas/Texas A&M game on Friday.

Baylor Vs. Kansas State Score Update: Bears Up 45-36 At The Half

In the first half of Baylor's game against Kansas State, Perry Jones III reminded a national TV audience why he was being talked about as a possible top 3 pick in the 2012 Draft.

Playing against a physical Wildcat front-line, the 6'11 230 forward has shot 8-8 from the field while scoring 21 points and grabbing 8 rebounds.

Jones has been aided by a strong offensive performance from SG Brady Heislip, whose scored 11 points, and a surprising defensive effort from reserve PG AJ Walton, whose hounded Kansas State star Rodney McGruder to a 2-7 effort in the first half.

After dropping six games against the top of the Big 12 in the last month-and-a-half, the Bears needed a strong game against an NCAA Tournament bound Kansas State team to rebuild their confidence before the NCAA Tournament.

The winner of this game will face the winner of the Kansas State/Texas A&M contest on Friday.

Big 12 Tournament 2012, Baylor Vs. Kansas State: Game Time, TV Schedule And More

This game between the Baylor Bears and Kansas St. Wildcats is the rubber match, and if the prior two games are any indicator then this game should be a good one as the prior two games were decided by a combined three points.

Baylor is coming into this game on a bad loss where they were upset by the Iowa St. Cyclones in the final regular season game and have struggled down the stretch by going 4-4 over their last eight games. Kansas State is entering this game on a higher note as they have won two in a row.

Both teams are locks for the tournament so the only thing on the line is their seed for the NCAA tournament.

2012 Big 12 Tournament: Bracket, Schedule And More

The first day of the Big 12 tournament is in the books and the quarterfinal matchups are all set. Wednesday's opening round games saw Texas A&M defeat the Oklahoma Sooners 62-53, and now they get the privilege to take on No. 1 seed Kansas.

In the night cap of the opening round it was Oklahoma State who had a big second half to defeat Texas Tech 76-60, and they will be playing No. 2 seed Missouri.

Baylor is safe in the tournament as they are ranked in the top 15 in both of the polls, and so they are playing for seeding when they take on Kansas State. Baylor and Kansas State have split their two meetings, and both of those games have been close so there is no indication that the third game should be any different.

As for Texas, they are squarely on the bubble and need to at get past Iowa State to keep their NCAA tournament hopes alive, and a win over iowa State could be enough to get them in the tournament.

Here is the schedule for Thursday's games:

No. 1 Kansas Jayhawks vs. No. 9 Texas A&M Aggies 2 p.m. ET (ESPN2)
