Baylor's 2012 defense could be one of the worst in NCAA history.
The Kansas Jayhawks bring their anemic, 90th-ranked offense to Waco to face a Baylor Bears defense that could use a break. As SB Nation Baylor blog Our Daily Bears writes, the Baylor defense is on pace to be one of the worst in NCAA history.
The 1993 Maryland Terapins allowed 6,083 yards in 11 games, an average of 553.0 yards per game. Through seven games this season, Baylor has allowed 3,876 yards, an average of slightly worse than those Terrapins at 553.71 yards per game. The 2012 Bears are on pace to give up 6,645 yards.
After Kansas this weekend come several tough offenses Baylor has to tangle with. The Bears still have to play Kansas State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech.
Something has to give Saturday when Kansas and Baylor meet. Both teams are winless in the Big 12. Baylor -- no matter their terrible defense -- has the nation's top-ranked passing attack with 395.7 yards per game. The Jayhawks and Bears play at 2:30 p.m. CT.
