The Texas Rangers begin a three game series against the Chicago White Sox on Friday. Yu Darvish starts for the Rangers against Chris Sale of the White Sox.

The Texas Rangers spent a lot of money to sign pitcher Yu Darvish, but so far it has worked out. The Japanese pitcher is coming off probably his best game of the season on July 21 against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. In that start Darvish went seven innings, allowing only 2 runs on three hits. The win improved his record to 11-6 and dropped his ERA to 3.88.

The Chicago White Sox will counter Darvish with Chris Sale (11-3, 2.37). He's coming off his first loss since May 12, after losing to the Detroit Tigers on July 21. In the start against the Tigers he was shelled for five runs with seven hits while striking out six batters.

The game will start at 7:05 p.m. CDT from Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. Television coverage will be provided by TXA-21 with Radio coverage provided by 103.3 ESPN FM.

The Dallas Cowboys added depth to their running back position by signing former TCU running back Ed Wesley to the training camp roster, according to Aaron Wilson.

Though he was not drafted this past April, there was a chance he may have been selected in the supplementary draft. In his time with the Horned Frogs, Wesley ran for 2,442 yards in three seasons. His best season was in 2010, where he ran for 1,078 yards and 11 touchdowns. Though his numbers decreased in 2011, he's still a back that can provide depth for the Cowboys.

Three players from the SMU Mustangs say that someone stole about $3,000 worth of electronics equipment from the players' off campus home, located on Anita Street, according to CBS Dallas Fort-Worth. Did we mention that the someone was an escort that was invited to the players' house after an end-of-the-year banquet? The incident, which occurred back in April, stemmed from one of the players, Uchenna Nwabuike, allegedly refusing to pay the escort for services rendered.
The players have not commented further on the incident, thought the police report is pretty clear as to what was reported.

In the police report, Nwabuike admitted that, "he did not pay the suspect for the acts that she performed" and left the woman in the home alone while the players attended the banquet.

Its a little odd that even college players wouldn't know better to not leave strangers alone in your own home. The university has claimed that it was unaware of the alleged incident until a CBS 11 reporter approached university officials with the information.

The police claim that they have the name of the suspect in question, but not much else.

Now that the NFL season is getting closer and closer, the power rankings are starting to come out. According to the average of all 32 NFL team blogs on the SB Nation network the Dallas Cowboys are ranked in No. 15 in the overall rankings published by SB Nation.

Blogging the Boys, the Dallas Cowboys blog on SB Nation states that while the defense has improved, the Cowboys have to hope now that their offensive line will holdup under the punishment of a full season. That could be the difference in the Cowboys possibly winning the the NFC East or missing the playoffs yet again.

The Cowboys suffered from a secondary that was shredded at critical points in games last season. Injuries and a skill-set that didn't match Rob Ryan's defensive scheme were definite problems. The secondary has received a big upgrade in the 2012 offseason leaving the Cowboys with one major question - can the interior offensive line hold up? At most other positions, they have the quality to compete with the rest of the league.

At the Big 12 Media Days, Baylor Bears head coach Art Briles addressed the media on his expectations for the 2012 college football season. While he talked about the new players such as running backs Jarred Salubi and Glasco Martin, the big question on the media's mind on Tuesday with Art Briles was what is life going to be without Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III at Baylor.

So what we have to do is figure out ways to fill in the gaps, because Robert created a bunch of gaps. His ability from somebody else's is a big gap. We have to fill that in with a variety of different methods, schematically, personnel-wise and motivational-wise and inspiration-wise that will give us an opportunity to stay at the level we finished at last year

He also addressed how the future of the program could be dealt with regardless of Griffin exiting the program. Briles says that he plans on riding this momentum that Griffin had put Baylor on as long as possible.

The other part, we're going to live on that as long as we can, and rightfully so. Because when I talk to recruits, they're not asking about, Coach, how are you doing, boy, sure would like to come visit, or saying, Coach, tell me about R.G. III, let me know me how's he doing, how's he going to be, how's he going to do in the NFL. We're going to continue doing that

The Bears are coming off one of their best seasons, so this season will be a good indication on the long-term success of this football program.

Can the Rangers give Angels ace Jered Weaver his second loss in as many starts against Texas?

The Texas Rangers begin a three game series against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Friday night. And while their opposing pitcher could be intimidating, the Rangers are able to shrug off this matchup. Angels pitcher Jered Weaver (11-1, 2.26 ERA) will take the hill on Friday night, looking for his twelfth win of the season.

Weaver's lone loss of the season came against the Rangers back on May 13. In that game Weaver went three and one-thirds innings, allowed eight runs on 10 hits in a 13-6 loss. Weaver hasn't lost a start since that night and hopes to keep that streak going.

The Rangers will send pitcher Derek Holland (6-4, 4.57) to the hill. The Rangers have won the last three games he's started and Holland has gone 2-0 in those three, including seven and two-thirds shut out innings against the Seattle Mariners on July 13.

The game is set for a 10:05 p.m. ET first pitch from Angel Stadium of Anaheim. Television coverage of the game will be provided by TXA-21 and radio coverage of the game will be provided by 103.3 ESPN FM.

The golf world is going to quickly learn the name Brandt Snedeker. The Nashville native is currently 6-under through 12 holes in the second round of the British Open to put his overall score at 10-under. Five birdies in a span of seven holes accounts for his rapid ascension up the leaderboard.

First round leader Adam Scott is set to tee off at 8:43 a.m. ET. Other notables set to tee off later today include Tiger Woods, 9:43 a.m. ET and Bubba Watson, 9:21 a.m. ET.

Golfers with ties to the Dallas area have not had the best tournament so far. Bob Estes finished his second round with a 2-over 72, putting him at 1-over for the tournament. Hunter Mahan is also 1-over for the tournament after shooting a 71 on second round. The projected cut line is currently at 2-over, but that is likely to change given the results of the day.

The Texas Rangers are stumbling a little bit entering Tuesday's game against the Oakland Athletics, having gone 4-6 in their last 10 games. The A's however enter this game having won nine of their last 10 games with a four-game winning streak.

The Rangers will throw pitcher Roy Oswalt to the mound as he looks to throw another impressive game after going five and two-thirds against the Minnesota Twins on July 8. In that game, Oswalt pitched allowed only one run on five hits, striking out three and walking two.

In the batting lineup, there is only change from Sunday's game against the Seattle Mariners. Catcher Mike Napoli will catch for Oswalt rather than catcher Yorvit Torrealba. The only other change is that Josh Hamilton will play in left field rather than being the designated hitter and David Murphy will be the designated hitter.

The rest of the Rangers' lineup is as follows.

1. Ian Kinsler (R) 2B
2. Elvis Andrus (R) SS
3. Josh Hamilton (L) LF
4. Adrian Beltre (R) 3B
5. Michael Young (R) 1B
6. Nelson Cruz (R) RF
7. David Murphy (L) DH
8. Mike Napoli (R) C
9. Craig Gentry (R) CF

The game is scheduled for a 10:05 p.m. ET first pitch from Oakland Coliseum. Television coverage will be provided by Fox Sports Southwest with radio coverage provided by 103.3 ESPN FM.
