After showing up to camp out of shape and fumbling away the opening kickoff against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, the Felix Jones fan club is dwindling fast in Dallas.
However, there's still at least one member, and he's the only one that really counts.
In a radio interview on Tuesday morning, Cowboys owner/GM/assistant head coach/PR spokesman Jerry Jones re-affirmed his confidence in Felix:
"Felix has returned a lot of kickoffs in his time - All-American twice in college as a kickoff returner. We have over the years been reluctant to use him as a kickoff returner because we didn't want to risk injury, but we've decided this year to use him as a kickoff returner. He should be a great asset for us. That's the way it remains."
Here's how much confidence the Dallas coaching staff has in Felix: he has 1 carry for 1 yard so far in 2012.
He was taken two spots ahead of Chris Johnson in the 2008 NFL Draft. That definitely has no weight in Jerry's decision-making process.
