Wide receiver Andre Holmes, others make most of playing time in preseason opener.

The Dallas Cowboys' starters didn't play much in the team's preseason-opening 3-0 win over the Oakland Raiders on Monday, and it'd be too early in the process for major shakeups at the top of the depth chart anyway.

But even though the team as a whole wasn't impressive, Blogging The Boys talks about the position battles at wide receiver and defensive line points out five non-starters who impressed with their opportunities.

Undrafted second-year wide receiver Andre Holmes led the team with five catches for 40 yards. Tight end James Hanna, defensive lineman Adrian Hamilton (who had a huge hit on Raiders QB Terrelle Prior), linebacker Alex Albright and undrafted free agent defensive lineman Ben Bass were all also highlighted for their raising their respective stocks.

Some players could already be on the bubble for roster spots, as well.

The best news to come out of the game, though, was the fact that the Cowboys escaped with no major injuries, only losing mid-round pick Kyle Wilber for a few weeks to a broken thumb.
