Cowboys Vs. Raiders: Morris Claiborne Out For Monday Night's Contest

Stay connected for news and updates

Dallas Cowboys fans looking forward to seeing the newly revamped secondary in action will have to wait at least one more week. Though free agent addition Brandon Carr figures to play in Dallas' preseason opener against the Oakland Raiders, prized first round draft pick Morris Claiborne will not play.

Claiborne underwent an MRI on his knee on Aug. 6, and was diagnosed with just a minor MCL sprain. Though Claiborne has resumed practicing, it appears that Jason Garrett and Rob Ryan do not want to take an unnecessary risk with Claiborne in Week 1 of the preseason.

Claiborne isn't the only high profile member of the Cowboys who will sit out Monday's contest. Miles Austin, Jay Ratliff, Jason Hatcher, Anthony Spencer and Phil Costa have also been ruled out.
