2012 Olympics Medal Count: United States Still Deadlocked With China

As the fourth day of competition at the 2012 Olympic Games in London got underway on Tuesday, the United States and China were deadlocked at the top of the leaderboard in terms of total medal count. Midway through Tuesday's events, the two countries are still tied, although the U.S. is gaining some ground in China's gold medal lead.

China and the United States currently have 19 medals each, outpacing Japan in third place with 12 and France with nine. China has 10 gold medals, but the United States now has nine.

The U.S. picked up another two big gold medals on Tuesday, in shooting and most notably in women's team gymnastics. The U.S. women took home the gold while China finished in fourth place.
