SMU's Zach Line Among Seven Texas Running Backs On The 2012 Doak Walker Watch List

SMU star running back, Zach Line, heads up a list of seven college football running backs from Texas on the 2012 Doak Walker Watch list.

On Thursday, a field of 52 candidates was announced for the 2012 Doak Walker Award. The award is presented annually to the nation's top college running back. SMU star running back, Zach Line, was a semi-finalist for the award last season and is a player to watch in college football this season.

Line, a senior from Oxford, Mi., rushed for 1,224 yards on 208 carries and scored 17 touchdowns. Over his three-year college career, Line has rushed for 2,907 yards on 501 carries and has scored 34 touchdowns.

Other college football running backs from Texas that made the list were:

Waymon James (Jr.) - TCU
Nathan Jeffery (So.) - UTEP
Chrstine Michael (Sr.) - Texas A&M
Jarred Salubi (Sr.) - Baylor
Eric Stephens (Sr.) - Texas Tech
Matthew Tucker (Sr.) - TCU

Semi-finalists will be announced on November 9th and the finalists will be announced on November 19th. The winner will receive the award on December 6th on The Home Depot College Football Awards show which will be aired on ESPN.
