The first round is well underway in the most prestigious non-major tournament in the PGA's 2012 season.

The first day of the 2012 Players Championship, widely considered the "fifth major" on the PGA Tour, is well underway and Dallas native and former UT golfer Harrison Frazar is near the top of the leaderboard.

Frazar, who has been on a fast upwards trajectory since joining the tour in 2008 after a stint as a commercial real estate developer, is currently at -4, three shots behind Ian Poulter at -7.

Mahan, a Dallas resident who golfed at Oklahoma State, is currently in the mix at the very top of the PGA Tour money list and FedEx cup standings, but he struggled in his first round of action at Sawgrass.

He is currently at +2, tied with Tiger Woods, who has once again been unable to find his stroke at one of the biggest events on tour.
