Matt Kenseth will look to defend his 2011 Samsung Mobile 500 win on Sunday, as NASCAR returns to Texas Motor Speedway.
NASCAR returns to Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday for the 2012 Samsung Mobile 500.
Last year, Matt Kenseth and the Roush Fenway Racing team won the race. Rightfully so as well, as Kenseth led 169 laps -- the most of any driver last year for the 2011 Samsung Mobile 500.
For just the second time in track history, the race will be held at night, as the 2011 Samsung Mobile 500 was the first spring night race held at Texas Motor Speedway. The race has a scheduled start time of 6 p.m. CT.
Many eyes will be on Dale Earnhardt Jr., who claimed his first-ever NASCAR victory at Texas Motor Speedway in 2000. Earnhardt Jr. is currently second in the Sprint Cup standings this year, just six points behind Greg Biffle.
On Thursday, April 12, drivers will be taking their first practice run for the Samsung Mobile 500 at 4:30 p.m. CT. That event will not be televised. However, on Friday, SPEED will broadcast the second round of practicing at 2 p.m. CT, with qualifying to follow at 5:30 p.m. CT.
Televised coverage of the 2012 Samsung Mobile 500 can be found on FOX.
