With the surprise hire of Trent Johnson as the next head coach of the TCU Horned Frogs, the spotlight on a dormant basketball program finally received some light. Although Johnson's record at his former gig at LSU wasn't a stellar one, with just a 67-64 record and one NCAA tournament birth in his first five seasons. Johnson was making around $1.2 million in Baton Rouge, but news has surfaced that Johnson's salary is about to receive a huge boost.
Wow RT @JacquesDoucet: Sources tell me Trent Johnson's salary at TCU will around two million dollars per season, with even more incentives— Dan Wolken (@DanWolken) April 7, 2012
TCU's investment in their head coach mirrors the investment the Horned Frogs athletic department are putting into the entire basketball program. Moving into a Big 12 conference that only has one dominant player in Kansas, TCU has a chance to succeed early on. At $2 million a year, Johnson will be the third highest paid coach in the Big 12.
