Baylor Vs. Notre Dame, 2012 NCAA Women's Championship Game Final Score: Lady Bears Cap Perfect Season

Perfection and history are upon the Baylor Lady Bears after they defeated Notre Dame 80-61 on Tuesday night to capture their second NCAA Championship in program history.

The win completes Baylor's undefeated season, during which Brittney Griner and company won 40 games - a Division I NCAA first.

Griner dominated the second half of action like she has dominated throughout the season, finishing with18 points in the final 20 minutes and 26 overall on the evening. She added 12 rebounds to go along with another customary impressive defensive effort in which she swatted five shots.

Notre Dame hung tough throughout much of the evening, narrowing the gap to just six points at halftime, but in the end they - like every other team on Baylor's schedule - had no answer for Griner's size and skill.

Skylar Diggans, a South Bend native and standout guard for the Irish, led her team with 20 points. Like Griner, Diggins will return next season and rank amongst the elite players in the country.

With the win, Baylor head coach Kim Mulkey takes home her second NCAA tournament crown as a head coach, and she remains the only female in NCAA history to win a Division I basketball championship as a player, assistant coach, and a head coach.

From start to finish of the 2011-2012 season, the Baylor Lady Bears ruled the landscape of women's basketball as the best team in the country.

With Tuesday night's win with everything on the line, they earned that title forever.
