SMU Football 2012 Suspensions: June Jones Sits Darius Johnson, Taylor Reed

Stay connected for news and updates

The SMU Mustangs haven't kicked off the spring football season on high note with losing two of their best players to suspensions. According Mustangs beat writer Laken Litman, SMU head coach June Jones suspended wide receiver Darius Johnson and linebacker Taylor Reed until further notice, with no indication of what the exact reason is. Litman said that Jones did leave the door open for possible academic issues.

Jones dismissed these players from drills on Monday. Last season, Johnson had 1,118 receiving yards for the Mustangs while Reed posted the most tackles on the team, with 9.5 tackles for loss and four sacks.
