Elliott missed the Alamo Bowl win against Washington and spring drills due to a knee injury. He redshirted in 2009 and has started 11 games over the last two seasons. In two seasons on the field, Elliott has amassed 63 tackles, including 17 tackles for loss and eight sacks.
After earning All-Big 12 honorable mention in 2010, Elliott played in 12 games last year, starting five of them. He recorded 27 total tackles, including eight tackles for loss, three sacks and an interception.
Head coach Art Briles would not comment on the reason for the suspension.

Let the Nick Florence era begin in Waco. Florence, the quarterback who has been tapped by Art Briles to succeed Robert Griffin III as the next signal caller for the Baylor Bears offense, completed 14-of-18 passes for 183 yards and three touchdowns in Baylor's spring game on Saturday.
Florence wasn't the only player who has big shoes to fill, as Lache Seastrunk is poised to be the next big playmaker in the Bears explosive offense after players like Terrance Ganaway and Kendall Wright did a year ago. Seastrunk put everyone on notice with a huge 75-yard touchdown run and finished with
Art Briles seemed pleased with both sides of the ball on Saturday, and realizes that this a new team in 2012.
"I thought we made some plays on both sides of the ball. Defense was pretty consistent throughout most of the day. Offense had some good moments just need to be a little more consistent but overall I thought the guys played well."
The Bears will open the 2012 football season with a home game on Sept. 1 against the SMU Mustangs.

KWTX.com is reporting that, according to a source, Baylor Bears head coach Art Briles is uninterested in the recently available Arkansas head coaching job and is committed to Baylor.
Briles is on the radar after leading the Bears to their best season in 31 years, capped by a 67-56 victory over Washington in a high-scoring Alamo Bowl appearance and a Heisman Trophy-the school's first-for quarterback Robert Griffin III.
But the Baylor source said Wednesday Briles and Baylor "are committed to each other the long run" and said nothing in the events at the University of Arkansas has changed that.
This is good news for the Bears, who are looking to build on their most successful season in 2011. While leaving for Arkansas and the SEC might have been a big jump for a head coach, the disaster that was created by Bobby Petrino may have been one of the factors that helped him quikly make the decision to stay committed to Baylor.

Whoever succeeds Petrino in Fayetteville needs to be a proven winner in a BCS conference with strong recruiting ties in the Texas high school ranks. Baylor coach Art Briles fits both descriptions perfectly.
