The top two seeds in the SWAC will begin tournament play in Garland, Texas on Wednesday when near-perfect Mississippi Valley State (17-1 in conference play) tips off against in-state rival Jackson State (7-23, 5-13), while No. 2 seed Texas Southern (13-17, 12-16) takes on Alabama A&M (7-20, 5-13).
The Delta Devils came a game short of recording the first perfect regular season of SWAC play since 1979 when they lost the season finale to Arkansas-Pine Bluff 78-67. Valley's 17 game winning streak came after they started the regular season 1-11 in non-conference play. Meanwhile. TSU enters tournament play coming off of a 54-51 win over Alcorn State.
