Dirk Nowitzki Passes Charles Barkley To Move Up To 19th On NBA's All-Time Scoring List

Stay connected for news and updates

Late in the Dallas Mavericks 101-99 overtime win over the Houston Rockets, Dirk Nowitzki passed NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley to become No. 19 on the NBA's all-time scoring list. Nowitzki tied and then passed Barkley on his final two free throws of Saturday's game which also happened to be the game winner.

Nowitzki now has 23,758 points which is one more point than Barkley had during his 16 seasons in the NBA.

Next on the list for Nowitzki to catch is Boston Celtics Kevin Garnett at No. 18, but that is not going to happen. The next retired player on the list is Allen Iverson who has 24,368, and that 610 point gap is highly unlikely to be passed this year with only 16 regular season games left. Depending on how well Nowitzki plays the rest of this season and next he could be in the top 15 by the end of the 2013 season.
